Selected Works

Edward Spitz is an artist who breaks the narrative scheme of comics and transforms it into a work of art.

He made his debut with his first exhibition in 2017 in Tel Aviv and success began to take shape: from there a series of events will lead him in a short time to enter the homes of numerous collectors from all over the world.

The artist has made his own those aspects that belong to the world of comics culture, he has thus developed an apparently simple and immediate art form with a strong decorative impact, which has undoubtedly contributed to its lightning success, but which hides from a more careful analysis, like any self-respecting comic strip, a deep psychological and social study that make his works cheerful,  but never superficial.

Edward Spitz does further technical and visual research, choosing to customize each individual work with the coherent representation of a different character each time. A protagonist who belongs to mass popular culture borrowed from the comic book universe and of which everyone, regardless of any status or age, has visual memory … “I decided to ride the wave of imagination with the immediacy of Art.

Spitz has the ability to expertly blend the pages of original period comics, which he uses to make the background, and superimposes these hand-painted “icons” and then “sealed” by a thick layer

of resin, not before having given them a voice by expressing the paradoxes of the current mass society. His genius lies in the fact that his veiled social denunciation is always in perfect harmony with the character represented.

The artist never wanted to reveal his identity, choosing to let his works speak and binding himself in a dimension out of time, just as if he were also a character who populates the world of fantasy. Therefore, in an age when we are obsessed with image and appearance, he chooses evanescence and intangibility.

Will it be a way of expressing his personal denunciation? Perhaps, who knows, but it is certainly in line with his works.
