Joel Amit was born in 1982 in Jerusalem, Israel.

Amit is an Israeli visual artist. Since a young age he has been painting, sculpting and designing. His passion for creating brought him to study architecture at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, where he graduated with honors. Joel experienced working with variety of building materials, utilizing concrete, wood, tubes, cardboard and paper, Which led him to the concept of pixel-art.

Amit was fascinated by how small pixels come to form larger forms, and started working with his most recent material- metal. He established his studio in Jerusalem and is currently creating and presenting a series of works, he terms “pixel-art”. This series draws its inspiration from nature, as well as from the computerized world and the doors it opens for artistic creation.

Amit finds The process of forming steel, such a cold and heavy material, into butterflies and bird flocks, truly liberating. His work integrates life, humor and love.
