Uri Lifshitz was born in 1936 in Kibbutz Givat Hashlosha, Israel. His first one-man show was held in Tel Aviv in 1962 at the Ekked Gallery. Since then he has had annual exhibitions in various galleries in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. He has participated in group shows of “New Horizons”, “Tatzpit”, and “Ten Plus”. In 1966 he exhibited at the Constant Munt Gallery in Amsterdam and a year later at the Israel-America House in New York. In 1969 the Israel Museum held a one-man show of his works and in 1970 he participated in the Sao Paulo Biennale. An exhibition of his paintings, drawings and etchings was held at the Tel Aviv Museum in 1974. In 1965 he won the prize for young artists at the “Young Israeli Artists” show. In 1966 he was awarded the Kolb Prize by the Tel Aviv Museum and a Marc Chagall fellowship from the Erasmus Fund.
